Huh guess I live in a pretty small world... Never woulda guessed the amount of species out that way... I assume most of the big game is resident only / lottery tags? Sounds like a kool place to be an outdoorsman...

everything is open to non-residents. everyone, including residents, has to draw in the lottery for big game. non-residents are allotted a certain percentage of all tags. if you purchase a hunting license and you do not draw a tag you earn a bonus point for every big game species you apply for. you can also purchase bonus points if you decide to skip a year for whatever reason. i applied for 19 years for a Bull Elk tag as a resident before i drew and had a bonus point for every year the bonus point system has been in effect (14 at the time). i shot a nice 6 x 6 bull in Nov. of "06". mountain lion tags are purchased at the NDOW offices over the counter. turkeys are a draw. state blinds for geese can be drawn for also. coyotes require no license whatsoever to take. bobcats require a trappers license even if you call and shoot them. my friend sold two bobcat pelts 2 weeks ago in Fallon Nevada for $550.00 apiece and they were females. males bring more.
Nevada in my opinion, is one of the best states in the west for hunting. if fuel was cheaper i might be able to enjoy it more. Nevada is a large state and you have to travel long distances to reach many of the hunting areas. my trips this year will have to be carefully chosen and probably limited to the areas i draw a tag in. course the way my luck goes i'll draw several tags all this year and have to try and fill them all. (HOPE!)

Bobcat pelts for $500+ is that the coolest thing or what? Man that sounds like a blast. If you have any pics laying around and can post em I would be really interested in seeing some of NV.

I am thinking of coyotes in my future but traveling to NV is a bit far (like you said with the gas prices) but the tag price is right!

I am amazed at the lottery/points systems that states use. Seems like a good idea but quite complex as in MD there are soooo many whitetails that the does are limitless with a bow! Course people live on top of people so finding a place to hunt is the toughest part....

If you have some digital pics and find the time... There's a posting on how to post pics in the HOW TO section. If you need a hand I am more than willing to help.

Have you ever gone for coyote out there?
